The Home Office has announced it will launch a new UK visa system aimed startups and entrepreneurs who want to start their own business.

According to the government, the new system will make the UK visa application process significantly simpler and smoother, so entrepreneurs coming to the UK from Spring 2019 will have a greater chance of UK visa success.

The new process has been designed as a result of advice from the Migration Advisory Committee and will allow a wider pool of entrepreneurs to gain access to Britain through endorsement from a university or approved business sponsor.

Commenting on the new system, Home Secretary Sajid Javid stated that it will help Britain build on its reputation as a leading nation for tech and innovation, and will help to boost interest even further by reducing immigration red tape.

“This will help to ensure we continue to attract the best global talent and maintain the UK’s position as a world-leading destination for innovation and entrepreneurs,” he said.

"This initiative builds on other recent reforms to the visa system – including doubling the number of visas available on the Exceptional Talent route to 2,000 per year – and shows the Government’s commitment to making the UK a dynamic, open, globally-trading nation."
